Hogle Zoo

Every year the Hogle Zoo offers a few free admission days during the winter months.  I know it can be a bit cold walking around outside, but as long as you bundle up I have never had a problem when we have gone.  Plus the kids get tired after an hour, so I really don't feel the need to stay all day.  If any of you want to come with me and the kiddos call me and we can arrange a time to go in February.  Tracy Aviary is doing free admission in February as well.  Please see the information below.

Hogle Zoo in Salt Lake City offers free admission on Wednesday, Jan. 25. The zoo offers free admission on the last Wednesday of the month in November, December, January and February.
Tracy Aviary, an eight-acre attraction in Salt Lake City that’s home to more than 400 birds, also offers free admission Wednesday. The facility offers free admission every Wednesday through February. Note: The aviary still charges a $1 per person fee that goes to the Wildlife Rehabilitation Center in Northern Utah to help rehabilitate injured birds.

Need new tunes....

Okay so last year I came across http://www.freegalmusic.com/ off of the Salt Lake County Library website: http://www.slco.library.org/.  Did you know that we paid $57.80 in property taxes last year for the Sandy Library?  Why not take advantage of the benefits the library has to offer.  The way that freegal works is you login with your library card number and pin and then you are legally allowed to download 3 songs per week per card.  I emphasize per card because, you can use other family or friends member cards if they don't want any songs that week.  To be honest freegal doesn't have every artist on there website yet.  They are constantly adding new artist and songs though.  Here are some of the artists I have downloaded to give you an idea:  Frank Sinatra, Kellie Pickler, Kelly Clarkson, Glee, Hot Chelle Rae, Foo Fighters, Mariah Carey, MoTab, etc.  Anyway click on the link above and it should direct you to there website if not go the library's website and click on the music/movies tab and you should see a link listed below.  Have fun updating your itunes!

One Cheap Chick

I figured this week, I should pay tribute to one of the blogs that inspired me to start this blog and that is Lesley Mitchell One Cheap Chick blog off the Tribune:  http://www.sltrib.com/Blogs/cheapchick.  Rich and I first heard about her from his buddy Luke that he works with. They both have a passion for chick fillet and one day she listed how to get a free chick fillet chicken sandwich. She posts all kinds of special deals or freebie events on her blog daily as part of her job working for the Tribune Newspaper.  I have gotten some really great deals or free meals just from looking at her daily postings.  Definitely worth looking at.  Secretly I wish I could get paid for doing something that cool!

Cold Wax

The other day I was talking to the beehives about plucking eyebrows and I started to tell them about cold wax.  None of them knew about it and I started to wonder who else doesn't know about cold wax.  Hence this post is created.  Cold wax normally comes in strips and it is a easy way to get rid of your unwanted hairs.  You simply cut the strips down to the size you want, apply to hair and rip the opposite direction of hair growth.  Voila less painful than plucking and much faster.  If you have never waxed your eyebrows before, I caution that you cut small strips until you get the hang of it.  You don't want to rip off your entire eyebrow.  You will also, need to pluck a few remaining hairs that the wax did not get when you are done.  I generally buy Sally Hansen's box above for apx. $5 at WalMart and it last forever.  Much cheaper than paying $10 at a salon for hot wax on your eyebrows.  Their are other wax products out there, but I haven't found any as effective yet.  Let me know if you do.
